Obituary Date: 1915-04-09

Information: MRS. F. A. MCGREW - The remains of Mrs. F. A. McGrew, whose death occurred at Charleston on Thursday of last week, arrived Friday evening and were taken to the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Seaman.  Funeral services were held at the United Brethren church Sunday afternoon.  Revs. Webster and Rymer officiating.  Interment was made on Pine Hill.   OBITUARY - Sadie McGrew was born January, 1877, died April 1, 1915.  She was 38 years and 3 months old.  Her father, Joshua Safreed, died when she was about two years old and shortly thereafter her mother, a sister of Mrs. James A. Seaman, gave her  to Mr. Seaman and wife, with whom she lived until she reached the age of 21 years when she was married to Frank A. McGrew.  To this union were born nine children, eight of whom survive their mother, one having died in infancy.  She grew to womanhood in this town where she lived with her foster parents for a period of 15 to 20 years.  Some seven or eight years ago, Mr. McGrew with his family moved to Charleston where he was employed in the State Auditor's office and where he is now engaged in the practice of law.  In the early part of the past winter she had an attack of rheumatism which grew so serious that she had to be taken to the hospital where she lingered for about five weeks.  Through all of her sickness and intense suffering she showed wonderful patience and was perfectly satisfied to die if it was God's will.  She said long before she had approached anything near her last moment she would rather die and be out of her suffering if it was not for her family, but she wanted to get well for their sake, otherwise it was alright.  She united with the U. B. church at the early age of 14 and had ever since been a devoted consistent christian girl and woman.  She was a true and faithful wife, a sacrificing and loving mother.  That she'll be missed need not be said, it is self evident.   A Friend.
