Information: Lucille Geretta McDermott, 78, of Cottageville, died Nov. 21, 1996, at Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis, Ohio.  She was born in Chillicothe, a daughter of the late William Randolph and Mary Jane Thornton Dean.  She was a former ward clerk and was active in the formation of the Gray Ladies at Jackson General Hospital.  She was a member of Red Cross, Cottageville Homemakers Club, Woman's Club of Ripley and Jackson County Pilot Club.  She was a 50 year member and past Matron of the Cottageville Chapter 54 Order of Eastern Star and was a member of the Cottageville United Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Daniel O. McDermott; one daughter, Joyce McCoy of Ravenswood; one brother, William Dean of Rutland, Ohio; one sister, Helen Wickline of Bidwell, OH; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by one brother, James Dean. Services 1 p.m. Saturday (today) Cottageville United Methodist Church, the Rev. Gerald B. Sayre and the Rev. Rodney McCulligan officiating.  Burial with graveside rites conducted by the Cottageville Chapter #16 OES will be in Jackson County Memory Gardens, Cottageville.  Casto Funeral Home, Evans, is in charge of arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, donations preferred to the Cottageville United Methodist Church or the Cottageville Volunteer Fire Department.
