Information: Dorenda Crow was born in Noble County, Ohio, Dec. 22, 1831. When two years old her parents, George and Susannah Crow, moved to Illinois near to, or perhaps now the city of Chicago, then a town of less than 1,000 population. The Indians were frequently met with on that trip and in great numbers around their new home. Not liking the wildness of the country with its almost unbroken prairie, they soon moved back to Ohio and in 1847 came to Jackson County, Virginia and on the farm where she grew to womanhood. In Aug. 1852 she was married to William K. McCoy, a prosperous and respected farmer who went to the great beyond many years ago. To them only one child was born, C. F. McCoy of Cottageville. Mrs. McCoy was indeed fortunate in having this noble son, with his estimable wife and his kind and thoughtful children to aid in her declining years. She was a good, quiet, unostentatious woman, satisfied with her home life and in doing as best she could the simply everyday duties that confronted her. Her influence through life was on the right side of the book of accounts. She has the following brothers and sister living: William and George B. Crow of Ripley, Charles H. Crow of Great Bend, Ohio and Mrs. Martha Hardman of Spencer. Having lived nearly ninety one years, she on Tuesday, October 11, without a moment's warning joined the innumerable throng of God.
