Information: NANCY MCCORD LAST CIVIL WAR WIDOW, TAKEN - Mrs. Nancy McCord, the last of the Civil War widows in Jackson county, is dead. The end came peacefully at her home near Liverpool on Thursday after a long illness. Mrs. McCord was the widow of Arthur McCord, who answered Lincoln's call for volunteers in the Civil War and engaged in numerous of the battles of that conflict. She was born in Monroe county, Ohio, a daughter of Enoch and Sara Jean Barton, and was 91 years old last November.... She had lived for many years in the Liverpool section of Jackson county. Survivors include two sons, James Garfield McCord of Liverpool, and McKinley McCord of Leroy; three daughters, Mrs. Savanna Utt of Sandyville, Mrs. Dollie Hissey of Duncan, and Mrs. Effie Starcher of Ravenswood; two brothers, Charles Barton, address unknown and Sam Barton of Texas; and a twin sister, Mrs. Eva Wigal of Mineral Wells. The funeral service was held on Saturday at the Independence church at Sandyville with Rev. Lincoln Jones officiating and the burial was in the church cemetery. The Vail funeral directors were in charge of arrangements.
