Information: HEART ATTACK PROVES FATAL-- Funeral services for Foster Marvin Mays, Sr., 58-year old merchant at Kenna, were held from the Goshen Baptist Church at Kentuck on Thursday afternoon with the Rev. Vairl Winter officiating and burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Mays suffered a heart attack, the second within a two months period, at his home on Monday night and died in a Parsons ambulance while enroute to a Charlston hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Jackson County. As a young man he entered the merchandising business in Kentuck with his brother, the late Bryan Mays. They operated a store there for a number of years and then bought a similar business in Kenna which he still owned at the time of his death. He was also engaged in farming on an extensive basis and as a widely known breeder of Hereford cattle as well as operating a gas well drilling company. He was the Democratic nominee for Sheriff of Jackson County four years ago. He was born at Kentuck on Feruary 14, 1901 and was a son of the late Frank B. and Leva Skeen Mays. Survivors include his wife, Freda Harper Mays; a son, Foster M Mays, Jr.; a sister, Ms. D.M. Fields of South Charleston, and two grandchildren, Gwendolyn and Karen Mays.
