Information: Othar ""Pud"" Mathews, 71, of Charleston, died Tuesday, May 23, 1989, at St. Francis Hospital after an extended illness.  He was a lifelong resident of Kanawha County, and was retired from Woodrums after 46 years of service as an upholsterer.  He was a US veteran of World War II and a member of the Junior Order United American Mechanics Lodge #221.  He was a Protestant.  Surviving:  wife, Dovie Boggess Mathews of Charleston; daughters, Jane Slater of Sissonville and Pauline Tallman of Elkhart, Indiana; sisters, Lona Haynes of Nitro and Helen Quillen of Charleston; stepmother, Hattie Mathews of Charleston; 4 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles F. Scraggs officiating.  Burial will be in the Boggess Cemetery, Allen's Fork.  Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 5-9 p.m.
