Information: FERD MATHENEY TAKEN BY DEATH - Ferdinand Matheney, 94-year-old resident of Gay, who was known to thousands of Jackson countians as ""Uncle Ferd"", sunk quietly into death last Saturday morning and, with his passing, Gay's oldest and honored patriarch was gone.  ""Uncle Ferd"" had been in failing health for some time, and friends and members of his family had known that the end would not be far off and thus his passing was not a shock.      He was a native of Noble county, Ohio, where he was born on February 16, 1852, a son of Aaron and Ann Moore Matheney.  Seventy-five years ago he married Miss Lydia C. Cunningham of the Cottageville Methodist church in charge.  The Vail funeral directors had charge of the arrangements.  Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Lola Hoge of Ripley, Mrs. Violet B. Payne and Mrs. Emma Mae Godbey, both of Charleston; two sons, M. C. and W. P. Matheney of Gay; 22 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild, and one brother, William Matheney, of Hockingport, Ohio.
