Information: HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER DIES - Verna Killingsworth Mason, 49-year old member of the Ripley High School faculty, died Friday in the Cleveland Clinic, where she had been a patient for about one week. She had spent some time this summer in a hospital at Phillippi and about a week prior to her death had been taken by her parents to the Cleveland Clinic. The parents and her small daughter, Mary May, were with her when she died. The body was returned to the McGee mortuary in Glenville on Saturday and funeral services were held in that city Monday afternoon with the Rev. Robert Gay officiating and the burial was in the Stalnaker cemetery. Mrs. Mason was born in Gilmer county and graduated from Davis and Elkins College and attended Ohio State University. She had taught for 19 years in the schools of Harrison and Jackson county. She first taught at the Gilmore high school in this county and several years ago was transferred to Ripley high school and had been a member of the faculty there since that time. Survivors include her daughter, Mary May Mason; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles O. Killingsworth of Glenville and a brother, Fred Killingsworth, who is associated with the Hope Natural Gas Company at Glenville.
