Information:  William Arthur Mahood, foster son of Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Mahood of Gay, died at his home there last week at the age of 56 years, 9 months and 10 days.  The funeral service was held with Rev. Malone of Gay officiating.  Mr. Mahood served in World War I and was honorably discharged on Dec. 14, 1918.  He married Edna Esther Litton on Aug. 5, 1920, the daughter of I. N. and Polina Litton of Gay, and to this union four sons were born, Gerald, Edward, Byron and Vernon.  He also leaves on sister, Zona Cleavenger of Hurricane, and three brothers, John, Teddy and Charles of Cabin Creek, the foster parents, and one grandson, Elmer Mahood.  He was a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.  Death came to him suddenly on the night of Dec. 25, a weakened heart and pneumonia being the cause of death.  Mr. Mahood was the mail carrier on the Belgrove Route at the time of his death.  Vail Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.   (From the obituary collection of Betty Kessel McIntyre)
