  <p>Information: Mrs. Gladys Balser Mahan, 68, of Ripley, Rt. 1, died July 16 at a Columbus, O. hospital following a long illness.  Born in Jackson County, a daughter of the late Jake and Mary Skinner Balser, she was a member of Hemlock United Methodist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Alberta Lawson of Sandyville and Wanda Jean Sayre of Groveport, O.; a former daughter-in-law, Gerry Mahan Young; two sisters, Lena Bowman of Ripley and Gertrude Crawford of Chester; five brothers, Will Balser of Ravenna, Ohio, Gerald Balser of Newark, O., Ernie Balser of Basil, O., Clifford Balser of Chester and Jess Balser of Marshall; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Her husband, Virgil Mahan, preceded her in death  Funeral services were held Friday at Flatwoods United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Armour Sayre officiating.  Burial was in the church cemetery.  Cunningham Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.</p>
