Information: Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at St. Johns Episcopal Church for Mrs. Annie Belle Armstrong Maguire, who died Saturday afternoon at her home at 700 Madison Avenue, Huntington, WV. The last surviving member of a family which included Dr. W. W. Armstrong and Harry S. Armstrong of Ripley, and Mrs. Clara Starcher of Huntington, she was the daughter of Judge Virgil Stuart and Annie Jane Thompson Armstrong. Born in Ripley on November 29, 1871, she attended school at Barboursville, where she studied music, and also studied music in Philadelphia. She was married in 1915 to Dr. John W. Maguire. They moved to Hutchinson, Kansas, and later to Huntington, where Dr. Maguire died in 1917. Mrs. Maguire was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Huntington, whose former pastor, the Rev. S. Roger Tyler, conducted services here. Surviving are the following nieces and nephews: Mrs. Elizabeth McGrew, Mrs. Charles B. Snaith and Tracy Starcher of Ripley; Robert Starcher of Huntington; Watson Starcher of Lewisburg; Charles Starcher of Orlando, Florida, and Stuart P. Armstrong of Charleston. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Charles W. Starcher and Mrs. Harry S. Armstrong of Ripley. (Betty Kessel McIntyre obit collection)
