Information: Lycurgus Maddox, 76 years old and a former resident of Ripley, died at a hospital in Morgantown about midnight last Wednesday and news of his death reached relatives here a short time later. He had been a patient in the hospital for almost three weeks. Mr. Maddox was connected with the O. J. Morrison store in that city where his son, W. H. Maddox, is the manager. He was a native of the Grasslick section of Jackson County where he grew to manhood and for a number of years had been connected with the Morrison Store organization. He operated a business in Ashland for a number of years but went to Morgantown in 1926 to become associated with the Morrison Company there. The body arrived in Ripley Friday evening and the funeral party spent the evening at the home of I. T. Maddox and proceeded on to Ashland Saturday morning where the funeral services and burial were later in the day. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Luella Maddox; three sons, Harry, Herman and Hayden Maddox, all of Morgantown; Mrs. G. B. Murphy of Morgantown, and one brother, I. T. Maddox of Ripley.
