Information: Dr. Charles Hess Maddox, 58 year old Charleston dentist, died of a heart attack Wednesday night shortly after he was admitted to a hospital to which he was taken after he was stricken  He had spent the day in Ripley making plans for a public inspection of his new apartment building on North Street, returned to Charleston late in the afternoon and had visited A. Clyde Wright, cashier of the First National Bank who is a hospital patient there and went on to his home where he was stricken.  The Parsons funeral directors of Ripley were in charge of arrangements for the funeral and burial.  Dr. Maddox was born at Kenna on May 19, 1894, a son of the late I. T. and Ida Lee Maddox.  He received his schooling in Jackson County and was graduated from Ripley High School.  He was graduated from Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 1921 and began his practice in Charleston that year.  Dr. Maddox was a veteran of World War I.  He belonged to Bream Memorial Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Ripley Lodge No. 16, AF & AM, Beni Kedem Temple and the Kanawha Valley Dental Assn.  Survivors;  his widow, Mrs. Erma Parsons Maddox, three sons, Dr. Charles Fleau Maddox, a dentist, of Charleston; James Hess Maddox with the army in Paris, France and Thomas Irving Maddox at home; two brothers, Roscoe of Toppenish, Wash., and Ashford D. Maddox of Charleston and two grandchildren.  Funeral services were held from the Bream Memorial Presbyterian Church in Charleston on Saturday afternoon.
