Information: Funeral services for Mary Esta Lupardus, 52 years old and the wife of S. W. Lupardus, of Sandyville, Route 3, were held at Shadydale, Roane County, last Thursday afternoon and burial was in the Raines cemetery. Mrs. Lupardus, who had been ill for sometime, died in a Spencer hospital. She was born on Flat Fork, Roane County, and married Mr. Lupardus in 1913. Survivors are her husband; three sons, Leon, Doyle and Densil Lupardus, all of Sandyville; four daughters, Mrs. Mildred Grady, of Sandyville, Mrs. Mazel Faber, of Columbus, Ohio, and Misses Juanita and Norma Lupardus, both of Sandyville; three brothers, Arch, John and Henry Raines; two sisters, Mrs. Ida Taylor of Red Knob, and Mrs. Anna Whited of Gandeeville. [12 June 1936] Mary Esta Lupardus was born July 2, 1883 and died May 26, 1936, aged 52 years, 10 months and 24 days. She was a daughter of Stephen E. and Sarah E. Raines. She was united in marriage in 1909 to Cornelius Igo, who departed this life in 1911. To this union one child, Leon, was born. She later united in marriage to Silas W. Lupardus and to this union seven children were born, namely: Mrs. Mildred Grady of Sandyville, Mrs. Maybell Faber of Columbus, Ohio, Madaline, who died in infancy, and Juanita, Doyle, Denville, and Norma, all at home. She became a member of the United Brethren church early in life and remained faithful until her death. Surviving are her mother, Sarah E. Ranies; two sisters, Mrs. Ida Taylor of Harmony and Mrs. Anne Whited of Gandeeville; three brothers, Henry Raines of Geneva, John Raines of Harmony and A. D. Raines of Canton, Ohio; four grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Sayre at the home of John Raines, of Harmony, and burial was in the family cemetery there. [26 June 1936] [from the Betty Kessel McIntyre obit collection]
