Information: Ripley resident, Delbert C. Ludwig, Sr., died suddenly at his Bridge Street residence Saturday evening. He had not been ill and had just completed dinner when he collasped. An ambulance was summoned but the medical technicians were unable to revive him. Mr. Ludwig was to have been the honoree at his 90th birthday celebration Sunday in Ripley. He and his wife, Goldie observed their 65th wedding anniversity in June of 1992. Mr. Ludwick was a staunch supporter of the Ripley Viking's football team and the West Virginia University Mountaineers, seldom missing a game. He was born, March 21, 1903, in Jackson County, a son of the late Lewis and Sarah Mae Pruden Ludwig. He had retired from the Department of Highways as a supervisor; was a former partner in Cloverleaf Construction; a former partner in Stickley, Inc, Kaiser; a member of Nemesis Temple, Parkersburg; 32nd Degree Masons, AF&AM 16, Ripley; and the Epworth United Methodist Church, Ripley. Survivors in addition to his wife are three sons. Delbert C. Ludwig, Jr. and Max R. Ludwig, both of Ripley, and Robert L. Ludwig of Charleston. Services were held March 23, at Epworth United Methodist Church, Ripley, with the Rev. Charles Echols officiating. Burial was in Pine Hill Cemetery, Ripley. Vail Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
