Information: Delbert Cliffod Ludwig, Jr., 85,, of Ripley, passed away Friday, September 11, 2015 at Select Specialty Hospital following an extended illness. Delbert was bor June 10, 1929 in Harrisville, a son of the late Delbert Sr. and Goldie Nutt Ludwig. He served in the United States Navy where he received the National Service Defense Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a graduate of West Virginia University where he obtained a bachelors degree in business administration. He spent his career working in human resources and would retire from the West Virginia Department of Highways. He was active in the Jay Cees and a member of Epworth United Methodist Church. He loved to watch the ountaineers and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed to hunt and fish. He is survived by his wife Lydia Ray Ludwig of Ripley; sons, Steve Ludwig (Vikki) of Bridgeport and Paul Ludwig of Fayetteville, stepchildren; Roger Ray (Kathy) of Roanoke, VA, Gerald Ray of Nitro, and Tina Dunbar (Mike) of Villa Rica, GA; brothers, Max Ludwig of Ripley and Robert Ludwig of Lewisburg; grandchildren; Daniel and Margaret Ludwig of Bridgeport, and step-grandchildren; Victoraand Valarie Ray of Roanoke, VA, Caried, Vanessa, Alexandria, and Hailey Ray of Nitro, and Jesse and Lindsey Dunbar of Villa Rica, Ga. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Marilyn Casto Ludwig. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at the Epworth United Methodish Church, Ripley at 11 a.m. with Rev. Tersa Deane officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Friends may also call on the family Monday, September 14, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley. Burial will follow the service Tuesday at the Pine Hill Cemetery. The family asks in lieu of flowers donations be made in Delbert's memory to the Epworth United Methodist Church.
