Information: KILLED INSTANTLY FRANK LUDWIG was instantly killed last Friday, February 27, at 5 o'clock in the evening by a tree falling on him while at work in the woods near his home on the head waters of Sycamore about four miles from Ripley, where he, with two of his sons, Daniel and Kenna (mac), were cutting timber. A strong wind was blowing and the tree which they were cutting down fell in the opposite direction from which they were expecting, catching Mr. Ludwig on the back just above the hips and death came before the tree could be sawed into and removed from its victim. Mr. Ludwig was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Ludwig and was born in Monroe county, Ohio, about 53 years ago and came to this county with his parents while quite a small boy . On May 27, 1894, he united in marriage with Miss Fannie Spears and to that union were born ten children and are as follows: Mrs. Ollie Clegg, Sandyville, Daniel, Kenna, Homer, Oliver, William, Dewey, Fleda, Pauline and Nina. Besides the wife and children the deceased is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Nicholas Ludwig, of Parkersburg; Jacob Ludwig, of Mineral Wells; Lewis and William Ludwig, of Ripley; C.D. and Otmer Ludwig, of East Liverpool, O., Mrs. Louisa Landfried of East Liverpool, O., and Mrs. Anna Custer, of Oklahoma. Mr. Ludwig was an industrious honorable and upright man and by his death the county loses one of its very best citizens and much sympathy is extended to the bereaved family. The funeral services were held at the home, Monday, and interment made in the Ludwig cemetery.
