Information: Mrs. G. W. Long, 86 years old, died at her home near Ravenswood Wednesday morning at 6:45 a.m., after an illness of several weeks. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Baptist church, with Rev. T. B. Turley, assisted by Rev. E. E. White, both of Parkersburg. Burial was in a local cemetery. Mrs. Long was born May 20, 1850 at Elizabeth, Wirt county. Her parents died when she was but a child and she came to Ravenswood to reside at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert S. Brown, spending the remainder of her life here. On September 27, 1869 she was married to George W. Long, who survives her. Mrs. Long was a charter member of the Ravenswood Baptist church and was active in the affairs of the church and community until her health failed several years ago. Surviving are her husband; five daughters, Mrs. Mary Noll, of Ravenswood, Mrs. Nellie Hunt of Old Washington, Ohio, Mrs. Neva Bradford, of Rutland, Ohio, Mrs. Esther DeWitt, of Detroit, Michigan, and Mrs. Ruth Lilly, of Mount Hope; and one son, H. A. Long, of Wamego, Kansas; and 24 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. [Betty Kessel McIntyre obit collection]
