Information: Ned Enoch Lockhart, 71, a Jackson County educator for almost 50 years, died Tuesday at War after a long illness. The son of the late George and Linna Enoch Lockhart, he was a school teacher for 42 years and was a former superintendent for Jackson County schools. He was retired from teaching in the Big Creek High School after 27 years. Lockhart was a member of the War United Methodist Church, the Woodmen of the World and the Kiwanis Club. He received his A.B. Degree from Marshall College and his Masters from West Virginia University. Survivors include his wife, Bertha Lockhart; two sons, James Martin Lockhart, Los Angeles, Calif., and Sidney Allen Lockhart, War; one daughter, Miss Wilma Lockhart, War; one brother, Carl Lockhart, Glasgow; two sisters, Mrs. Erma Hardesty, Sandyville and Mrs. Vesta Mitchell, New Martinsville. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. today at the First United Methodist Church at War with additional services scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at the Vail Funeral Home, Ripley. The Rev. Basil Hensley will officiate. Burial will be in the Independence Cemetery at Sandyville.
