  <p>Information: Mrs. Bertha VanFossen Lockhart, 71, of Welch, formerly of Jackson County died Saturday in Welch Hospital following a short illness.  Funeral services were held Monday at the Vail Funeral Home, Ripley with the Rev. Basil Hensley officiating.  Burial was in the Independence Cemetery at Sandyville.  Born in Jackson County, she was a daughter of the late Nelson and Mary VanFossen.  She was a member of War United Methodist Church and was a retired school teacher.  Preceding her in death was her husband, Ned E. Lockhart, a former Jackson County school principal.  Surviving are two sons, Marvin of Texas and Sidney at home; one daughter, Wilma of Huntington; one brother, Hollis VanFossen of Sandyville and one sister, Mrs. Blanche Lawson of West Union.</p>
