Information: FAIRMONT - Karl Andrew Lloyd, 86, of Fairmont, departed this life June 27, 1999 at Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center, Clarksburg, following an extended illness. He was born July 7, 1912 at Cottageville WV, a son of the late William T. and Mayme Sayre Lloyd. He was a graduate of Marshall College, a retired teacher and principal for many years in West Virginia, Ohio and Texas. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge, Cottageville WV and was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church (United Methodist). He was a member of the American Legion, a WW II Navy veteran having served on the USS DE Edwin A. Howard as QM3C. He was a former employee of Omar Bakery in Columbus, OH and he was a talented wood carver, carpenter and painter. Surviving are a son, John W. and his wife, Patricia Lloyd of Bedford TX; daughters, Karlene Peters of Redding CA and Janice and her husband, Gregory Gross of Fairmont; sisters, Mildred Kerwood of Cottageville and Beulah Hinkle of Akron OH; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorena Kessel Lloyd; daughter, Patricia June Lloyd; brothers, Otto ""Samp"", W. Rufus, Herbert, Luther and Ralph; sisters, Beatrice Pelton, Blanche Baker and Belle Friese. Services will be held Thursday, July 1, 1999 at 1 p.m. at Casto Funeral Home, Evans WV with the Rev. Gerald B. Sayre officiating. Burial will follow in Blaine Memorial Cemetery, Cottageville with military honors by VFW Post #6669, Ravenswood WV. Visitation 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
