Obituary Date: 1928-05-03

Information: Margaret A. Litton was born in Monroe county, Nov. 6, 1875, and departed this life April 23, 1928, age 52 years, 5 months and 15 days.  She was united in marriage to a Mr. Clark about the year 1895.  To this union were born one daughter, the only child that she ever had, and she still survives.  After his death, she was united in marriage to J. J. Dimon of Gauley Bridge.  After his death she remained a widow for nearly ten years, then she was united in marriage to W. M. Litton Sept. 30, 1920.  The deceased was converted when about 14 years old and joined the M. P. church and later moved to Gauley Bridge where she joined the Baptist church and was baptized in the Gauley river.  She later moved to Charleston and moved her membership to the Baptist Temple of that city, and in her last marriage when she moved to Gay with her husband, she joined the United Brethren church with him.  Mrs. Litton was faithful in her attendance at the church services and took an active part in all departments of the church work.  She will be greatly missed by the Church and by all who knew her.  On Monday morning, April 23, after listening to a morning sermon over the radio and talking of her prospect of Heaven, she went about her morning work and about 15 minutes till eleven o'clock the death angel called for her. She was stricken with paralysis and only remained conscious ten or fifteen minutes and 12:10 o'clock she passed to the great beyond.  She leaves to mourn her loss her husband and her only daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. George Courey; four grandchildren, Norman, Margaret, Louise, Thedame, and Betty Lee Courey; and a host of friends.  The funeral service was held at the Gay U. B. church April 24, conducted by her pastor, L. G. Crew, and she was laid to rest in the Litton cemetery.  We are looking forward to that heavelny land where she will greet us with a welcome hand.
