Information:     William Ray Alexander, 86, of Medina, died Friday in Jackson General Hospital, Ripley, following an extended illness.  He was born in Jackson County, a son of the late Martha Archer and George Arlin Alexander.  He was a farmer, deputy sheriff in Jackson County and the first city police officer in Ripley, a veteran of World War II and a member of the VFW.  He is survived by one son, Charles Alexander of Melbourne, Fla.; one grandchild.  Service was Monday at Parsons Funeral Home Chapel, Ripley, with the Rev. Ernie Haynes officiating.  Burial was in Ravenswood Cemetery.
