Information: Funeral services were held on Dec. 6 at 10:30 at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville, Ohio for Earley (Earl) Benjamin Bennett, 80, who died Friday afternoon, December 3 at the Veterans' Hospital at Huntington, W. Va. Rev. Tracy Potts officiated. Burial was in Lucasville Cemetery with the McKinley Funeral Home in charge. The James Dickey Post of the American Legion of Portsmouth, Ohio conducted the services at the cemetery. Mr. Bennett was born at Cottageville, W. Va., August 26, 1885, a son of Lewis and Charity Sayre Bennett. He was a veteran of World War I. Surviving are his widow, Pearl Flowers Bennett; five sisters, Mrs. Martha Swearingen of Fairmont, W. Va., Mrs. Myrtle Greenan of Moundsville, W. Va., Mrs. Bertha (Dink) King of Cottageville, W. Va., Mrs. Effie Ross of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Anna Sayre of Charleston, W. Va. One sister, Mrs. Mary Thornton and one brother, Daniel Bennett preceded him in death. He also had two daughters by a former marriage and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. A happy home we once enjoyed, How sweet the memory still, But death has left a loneliness The world can never fill. The depths of sorrow I cannot tell Of the loss of one I loved so well. And while he sleeps a peaceful sleep His memory I shall always keep.
