Information:     With the extended illness and recent death of Mark Lawrence, 14-year old son of Tom and Sharon (Shockey) Lawrence, the family now faces mounting medical expenses. Mark died Dec. 23, 1987 at King's Daughters Childrens Hospital, Norfolk, VA after a long illness.  He was a Baptist.  Mark, a victim of cystic fibrosis, was uninsurable by commercial companies.  Mark's father, Thomas A. Lawrence II is a U.S. career serviceman and a former resident of Jackson County and was a 1967 Ripley High School graduate.  His mother, Sharon (Shockey) Adkins Lawrence, also a former  Jackson County resident graduated in the class of 1968.  The military covered no portion of Mark's home health care costs that were incurred over the past two years in an effort to allow Mark as much time at home as possible. Other survivors include brothers, Matthew and Michael, both at home; paternal grandparents,Thomas A. and Ernestine Lawrence of Given.  His maternal grandparents are the late Delbert and the late Mae Adkins.  Vail Funeral Home, Ripley was in charge of arrangements.
