Information: Mrs. Columbus N. Lanham, about 50 years old, died at her home at Big Chimney, Kanawha County, last Thursday night following a long illness caused by cancer.  [She died 8 Oct. 1936]  Death had been expected for several days, members of the family said.  She was formerly of Advent, Jackson county.  The funeral services were held at the Mangus cemetery at Advent on Sunday morning at 10 o'clock with Rev. John R. Mundy in charge and burial was in the cemetery there.  At the same time, Rev. Munday delivered the funeral oration for Mrs. Lanham's daughter, Mrs. Oscar Randolph, who died several years ago.  Mrs. Lanham is survived by the husband and three children, Robert Lanham, Sanford Lanham, and Miss Lola Lanham, all at home; four brothers, Charles E. Siders and David J. Siders, both of Advent, George Siders of Buffalo, Putnam county, and Joe Siders of Charleston; three sisters, Mrs. Arena E. Hamon of Advent, Mrs. Joseph F. (Lydia) Kiser of Fletcher and Mrs. Lucy Smith of Advent.  One step-daughter, Mrs. Alma Miller of Big Chimney, also survives.  A large crowd was present for the funeral rites at the cemetery Sunday morning.  Among those attending from Ripley were:  Mr. and Mrs. Dexter Hamon and family, Mr. and Mrs. George Jordan and family and Mr. and Mrs. Ova Hamon and family.  [from the Betty Kessel McIntyre obit collection]
