Information: Elsie E. Hinzman Lanham, 85, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Friday, January 20, 2012, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born November 15, 1926 in Aliquippa PA, and resided all her life in Jackson County.  She attended Fisher Chapel United Methodist Church for over 50 years where she had taught Sunday school and was a member of the church Ladies Aide, which included quilt making and various other church ministries.  She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 17 and the Daughters of Rebekah No. 9.  She attended Glenville State College and West Virginia State College, where she received her teaching degree.  Elsie taught in several one-room schools in Jackson County and taught first grade for 25 years at Kenna Elementary, where she retired after a teaching career of 32 years.  Elsie loved her family, church, gardening, sewing and cooking and was an avid fan of West Virginia Mountaineer football.  Her greatest joy in life was serving the Lord and with all whom she came in contact.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Haverd Lanham; son, Roger Lee Lanham; mother and stepfather, Myrtle and Verner Hurd; and brothers, Pearl Hurd and Charles Hurd.     She is survived by her son, Gary Dale (Kathy) Lanham of Sandyville; daughter, Connie Sue (Rusty) Monk of Bluefield; grandchildren, Beth (Don) Patrie of Winter Park FL, Mary Margaret (Scott) Chappell of Atlanta GA, Heather (Matt) Fox of Winter Springs FL, Christina (Jimmy) Davis of Charleston, Brian (Ginny) Lanham of Charleston, Stephanie (Matt) Bragg of Narrows VA, and Nikki (Brian) Davis of Perry Township OH; step-grandchild, Tommy (Amy) Kelly of Charleston; great--grandchildren, Ryan and Megan Patrie, Kendall and Conner Chappell, Michal Anna and Olivia Fox, Christopher, Zachary and Haley Davis, Erin Bragg, N'yah and Jewelia Davis; step-great-grandchildren, Emma and Nathan Kelly.  Elsie is also survived by her sister, Mary (Eddie) DePue of Sandyville; brothers-in-law, Henry Lanham and Bill (Jean) Lanham of Sissonville, Denver (Linda) of Myrtle Beach SC; sister-in-law, Urita Lanham of Myrtle Beach SC; daughters-in-law, Sue Kennedy and Nancy Lanham; several nieces and nephews; special sister in Christ, Phoebe Good; and a host of friends and church family.  Visitation with the family will be held from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm Sunday, January 22, at Fisher Chapel Methodist Church.  Funeral service will be held at 4 pm with viewing one hour prior to the service on Monday, January 23, at Fisher Chapel with the Rev. David Peters and the Rev.
