Information: RIPLEY - Shirley R. ""Cork"" Lane, 74, of Ripley, died Friday, February 4, 2005, at Charleston General Hospital, following a long illness. He was born April 21, 1930, at Shrewsbury, WV, a son of the late Joseph Everett and Audrey Mae Hackworth Lane. Mr. Lane was a machinist with International Harvester with 32 years of service. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Katris of Ripley and Micki Lane of Illinois; brother, Burl Lane of Manmouth; six sisters, Betty Malcolm, Martha Green and Natoma Persinger, all of Shrewsbury, Mary Ebs of Virginia, Phyliss Lockridge of Tennessee, and Sue Lawson of North Carolina; and grandson, Lane Katris of Ripley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Lane; two sisters, Judy Coleman and Juanita Withrow; and three brothers, Jack, Harold and James Robert Lane. A funeral service was held Monday, February 7, 2005, at the Vail Funeral Home, Ripley. Burial was in the Fairplain Cemetery with military rites provided by American Legion Post 107.
