Obituary Date: 1936-03-06

Information: Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Jane Lane, widow of the late Daniel Lane, were held at the home of her son, S. G. Lane, in Ripley Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. Fred Slaughter in charge and burial was in the King cemetery near town.  Mrs. Lane, who was 83 years of age, died at the home of her daugher, Mrs. B. A. Snodgrass in Charleston at 3 o'clock Sunday morning.  She had gone there last fall to spend the winter with the daughter and had enjoyed unusual good health until more than a week ago when she suffered a stroke which resulted in her death a few days later.  She was one of the early residents of this section and for many years was a member of the old Bachtel United Brethren church.  When that church was abandoned several years ago she transferred her membership to the Ripley church.  Despite her years she enjoyed life a great deal and always had reasonable good health.  Since the death of her husband several years ago, it had been her practice to spend the winters with the daughter in Charleston and the summers with her two sons who live in Ripley.  She is survived by the following children:  M. G. Lane, of Ripley, M. L. Lane, of Aliquippi, Pa., Mrs. B. A. Snodgrass, of Charleston, and S. G. Lane, of Ripley.  [Betty Kessel McIntyre obit collection]
