  <p>Information: Powell William Lane, 59, of Fairplain, died Saturday in Huntington VA Hospital after a long illness.  He was a retired construction worker and a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.  He is also an ex-coal miner.  In 1984, Lane was a Democratic candidate for Governor of West Virginia.  He received 2.900 votes and lost the democratic nomination for governor to Clyde See, who received 148,000 votes.  There were seven Democratic candidates seeking the nomination with a total of 367,000 votes cast.  Survivors include his wife, Alpha Jean Lane.  Services were Monday at Parsons Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Hinzman officiating.  Burial was in Aplin Ridge Cemetery.</p>
