Information: Garnet Landfried, 94, of Ripley, passed away Monday, March 30, 2015, at Eldercare of Ripley, following a long illness. She was born September 12, 1920 at Kentuck, Jackson County WV, a daughter of the late Robert and Lessie Ferrell Hamon. She was well known for her upholstery work and operated her own shop for many years. Garnet was always active and ready to help in any way she could. She was a member of the GFWC Women's Club of Ripley and was always ready to volunteer her services with the City of Ripley and many community projects. She was a Christian and loved her church, Epworth United Methodist Church, where she served on several committees. She kept in shape and was a member of CURVES where she hit and surpassed the 1000 work-out milestone. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George ""Bus"" Landfried and a son, Charles ""Dick"" Landfried. She is survived by a son, George ""Butch"" Landfried and his wife Annie of Manassas VA; daughter-in-law, Linda Landfried of Lewisburg; brother, Marvin Hamon of Mount Vernon OH; grandchildren, Phillip Landfried and his wife Lorraine, Carol Leslie and her husband Dana, Libbie Geary and her husband Lou and Joseph Landfried and his wife Merisha; great-grandchildren, Zachary Leslie, Lauren and Caroline Landfried, Sam, Mack and Jacob Geary, Colton, Addison Landfried, Jason and Erin Leslie. Funeral service will be 2 pm Monday, April 6, 2015, at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, with Rev. Terri Deane officiating. Entombment will be in the Jackson County Memory Gardens, Cottageville. Friends may call from 7 to 9 pm Sunday, April 5, 2015 and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Garnet may do so to the Epworth United Methodist Church.
