Death Notice:
Obituary Date: 1889-10-26
Information: Mrs. Mary Kounts, better known as ""Aunty"", and who was probably the best known woman in this whole section, died Sunday evening about 4:30 o'clock after an illness of a few weeks of typhoid fever. We believe she was 76 years old the 11th of the present month. At the time of her death she was surrounded by all her children, and at the funeral by three sisters, also. She was of a gentle disposition, always one of the first to visit the sick, be they rich or poor, and she rarely if ever failed to attend a funeral in the neighborhood--her example in these respects would be good ones to follow. She was a devoted Presbyterian and could always be seen in her pew at services--but it is now vacant. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. E. S. Brownlee at the family residence below town Tuesday afternoon in the presence of a very large concourse of sympathizing friends and acquaintances.
