Information: SANDYVILLE - Richard Lee Koontz, 63, of Sandyville, went to be with the Lord Thursday, January 14, 2010, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg, following a brief illness.  Rick was born January 3, 1947, at Limestone Hill, Wirt County, and was the youngest of 13 children born to the late Warren W. and Blanche (Counts) Koontz.  He was also preceded in death by brothers, John, Bob, and Floyd; and sisters, Loretta Full and Lou Ann Koontz.  He graduated from Gilmore High School in 1965 and was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War.  He retired as a lab technician from DuPont in December 2002 to spend time with his family.  He was a dedicated member and teacher of Drift Run Church, Sandyville.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking.      Survivors include his wife, Patty (Hutchinson) Koontz, whom he married January 27, 1967; son, J. D. and his wife, Holly Koontz of Charleston; daughter, Julie Miller and her husband, Tim, of Sandyville; and he was the beloved Papaw of Ethan, Elliot, Elijah, and Adriana and Luke.  He is also survived by brothers and their wives, Okey and Ruth Ann Koontz of Sandyville, Ted and Margie Koontz of Newark, and Fred and Carol Koontz of Parkersburg; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rosalie and Clifford Kerwood of Cottageville, Eloise and Herbert Sayre of St. Albans, Janet and John Hale of Newark, and Betty and Norman Anderson of Harrisville; mother-in-law...........
