Information: Pheoba Koontz, 88 years of age, the last of a large family, and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Fisher, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. G. Scherr of Charleston, Monday morning.  Short funeral services were held at the home of her daughter in Charleston, Tuesday.  Funeral services were held at her home on Fisher Ridge, Wednesday 10:00 o'clock by Rev. Hobson Fisher and Rev. G. W. Garrett.  Burial was made in the family cemetery on Fisher Ridge.  She leaves to mourn her loss the following sons and daughters, Mrs. Delia Smith, Grova Koontz, Mr. John S. Koontz, J. K. Koontz, C. F. Koontz.  Her husband preceded her in death in 1910.          (Obituary has the named spelled Knootz.)   JACKSON HERALD (June 21, 1940) -  MRS. KOONTZ DIES MONDAY - Last rites for Mrs. Koontz, 88 years old, who died Monday morning after an illness of more than five months, were held at the Koontz family cemetery on Fisher Ridge Wednesday morning at ten o'clock with Rev. J. W. Garrison in charge and burial was in the family cemetery.  Members of the family said that infirmities due to her advanced age caused the death which had been expected.  Mrs. Koontz, who was one of the pioneer residents of the Fisher Ridge section of Jackson county, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. G. Scherr in Charleston with whom she had made her home for the past twenty-eight years.  She spent many years of her life in the Fisher Ridge community but during more recent years she lived in Charleston.      She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. E. G. Scherr, at whose home she died, and Mrs. W. A. Smith, also of Charleston and four sons, John S. Koontz of Kenna, Allen Koontz of Charleston, James Koontz of Charleston and Flenner Koontz, also of Charleston.  A number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.     Herald 5 July 1940 - Phoebe (Fisher) Koontz, daughter of Leonard and Hannah (Greene) Fisher, and last member of that family, born April 13, 1852 in what is now Jackson county, W. Va., passed away June 17, 1940, at the home of a daughter, Mrs. E. G. Scherr, of Charleston, with whom she had made her home for a number of years, and visiting with her other children at different intervals.  She was married to Elbin Koontz in 1870.  To this union 8 children were born.  The husband, one daughter, Christina, and one son, Floyd W., preceded her to the great beyond several years ago.  Six children survive, four sons and two daughters, John of Kenna, Allan, James and Flenner, all of Charleston, Mrs. E. G. Scherr and Mrs. W. A. Smith, also of Charleston.  Quite a number of grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends mourn her departure.  Services were held in the Scherr home Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Hobson Fisher, Rev. C. Oral Lowe and Rev. R. C. Cannon, and several songs were sung by a quartet.  Rites were concluded Wednesday at the old homestead on Fisher Ridge by Rev. J. W. Garrison, assisted by Rev. P. D. Fisher and Revs. Hobson and Corbett Fisher.  The body was placed to rest by the side of her husband in the family cemetery nearby.  Written by a niece, Mrs. E. C.
