Information: KNOTTS IS STRICKEN SUDDENLY ON SUNDAY - A former Jackson county resident who was in Ripley over the week-end to attend the funeral of J. B. Vail, was notified late Sunday afternoon that her own husband had died in Lancaster, Ohio. Dead of a heart attack was 62-year old William Robert Knotts of Amanda, Ohio. His wife, the former Tessie Landfried of Jackson county, was notified at the home of Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Burke in Ripley. Mr. Knotts had driven to the home of his sister, Mrs. Isa Vought in nearby Lancaster, and was starting home again when he was stricken. He had gotten into his car, reports said, but had not yet turned on the ignition key when he suffered a fatal heart attack. The body was brought Tuesday to the Vail Funeral home in Ripley where funeral services will be held this (Wednesday) afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Robert Fuqua will officiate. Burial will be in the Spencer cemetery. Mr. Knotts was a native of Spencer in Roane county. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Tessie Landfried Knotts; and two sisters, Mrs. Oda Bennett of Washington, D. C. and Mrs. Isa Vought of Lancaster, Ohio. From the Lancaster Eagle-Gazette - Jan. 11, 1960 - William Robert Knotts, 61, Amanda Rt. 1, a prominent farmer in the Royalton area since 1940, was found sitting in his car dead at the rear of 123 Cleveland Ave., Sunday at 4:27 p.m. Mr. Knotts was found by his brother-in-law, T. H. Vaught, whom he was visiting. Fairfield County Coroner, L. L. Kersell, ruled a heart attack as the cause of death. Knotts was a member of the Royalton Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Tessie; and two sisters, Mrs. Isa Vaught, Lancaster, and Mrs. Oda Bennett, Washington, D. C. Funeral services will be held Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. at the Ray H. Wise Funeral Home, with the Rev. Edward H. Jones officiating. The body will then be taken to the Vail Funeral Home in Ripley, W. Va., where services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. Burial will be made in Spencer, W. Va. Friends may call at the Wise Funeral Home after 7 p.m. today.
