Information: KNOTTS RITES ON THURSDAY - Funeral services for Carl J. Knotts, 55, former Sheriff of Jackson county, were held at Ravenswood on Thursday with the Rev. John Welch officiating and the body was taken to Spencer for burial. Mr. Knotts died at his Ravenswood home on Tuesday after an illness of several months. He was a regional right-of-way agent for the State Road Commission at the time of his death. Mr. Knotts had been with the Road Commission since 1937. He served as Sheriff from 1933 to 1937, the second Democrat to be elected to that office in the county. Before his election as Sheriff, he operated St. Dennis Milling Company at Ravenswood. He was the son of A. J. and Elizabeth Sickles Knotts and was a native of Roane county. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Levantia Sheridan Knotts; one son, T. A. Knotts, of Ravenswood; one brother, W. R. Knotts of Amanda, Ohio and two sisters, Mrs. T. H. Vaught of Amanda, Ohio and Mrs. Hugh Bennett of Washington, D.C.
