Information: Robert Wayne King, 74, of Evans, departed this life February 5, 2008, at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, following an extended illness. He was born May 5, 1933, at Evans, a son of the late David Luther and Hattie O. Donohew King. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War era and was a retired cell operator from Kaiser Aluminum and Century Aluminum with 37 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, ginseng hunting, coin collecting, and spending time with his grandchildren, other family members, and friends. He was a Protestant. Survivors include his wife of 50 years Veva Mae McClure King; daughters Nancy Sue Thornton of Leon, Carrie Lea Nichols of Roanoke, VA and Robin Lynn of Ripley; brothers David King of Arizona; Charles King of Ripley and Troy King of Evans; sisters Betty Sayre of Evans, Lucille Hanna of Carey, OH and Sandra Davis of Pulaski, VA; grandchildren Hanna Poling, Ben Poling, Katie Burdette, Navid King Thornton and Charles Nichols and great-grandchildren Darian Alexander Simpkins and Gage Austin Nichols. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Paul King, sisters Lona M. King and Alice M. King, granddaughter Bobbie Jo Simpkins and great-grandaughter Shelby Lynn Simpkins. Service at Casto Funeral Home, Evans and burial at Cherry Grove Cemetery, Cottageville with military honors provided by Jackson County veterans organizations.
