Information: Howard Ward ""Stinkey"" King, Sr., 74, of Murraysville WV, passed away suddenly at his home on Wednesday, December 19, 2012. He was born in Huntington WV on August 4, 1938 to the late Mabel W. and M. Ward King. He moved to Ravenswood as a small child. As a child, Stinkey was very mischievous, so his mother gave him the nickname of ""Stinkey"". This is how most knew him and he lived up to his nickname on a daily basis. Stinkey was baptized and saved as a young man at the First United Methodist Church in Ravenswood. He graduated from Ravenswood High School in 1956 and played high school football under Coach Jim Spano. He was a Boy Scout with Troop 44 and attended the World Jamboree in Montreal, Canada in 1955. Stinkey was a leader of Troop 43 in the 1970's and regularly attended Summer Camp at Camp Kootaga in Wirt County with the kids. He helped start the Murraysville Mountaineers 4-H Club and had been a main component of making apple butter for almost 40 years. Stinkey started working at Kaiser Aluminum in 1957 in I & L and worked in various departments until his retirement in 1997 from Ravenswood Aluminum Corp. Stinkey had been a member of the Operating Engineers 132-B and a loyal member of the Local Steelworkers Union 5668. After retirement he enjoyed traveling to the Amish country and spending time with his Amish friends whom he considered family. Stinkey worked around his farm, liked attending auctions and helping raise his grandchildren. He was Trustee of Howell Cemetery for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mabel W. and M. Ward King, and brother, Jack L. King, a niece and two nephews. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Thelma J. King; son, Howard W. King, Jr. and wife, Lori; daughter, Celeste D. Hinzman and husband, James, all of Murraysville; grandson, Derrick W. King, South Gate KY and granddaughters, Heather Goff and husband, Danny, Parkersburg WV and Sheridin and Veronica Hinzman. Stinkey is also survived by his sister, Joanne Abel of Parkersburg, and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 22, 1012 at 11:00 a. m. at Coleman Chapel in Murraysville, with Reverend Michael Curtis officiating. Burial will follow in Howell Cemetery, Milhoan Ridge, Murraysville WV. Friends visited the family at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood WV on Friday, December 21, 2012, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. as well as one hour prior to service on Saturday at the church.
