Information: G.L. KESSEL, 101, TAKEN ON FRIDAY - George Lightburn Kessel, 101-year old native of Jackson county, died at Tyler Mountain on Friday after a short illness.  He was one of the state centenarians honored last year on the state's 100th birthday.  Actually, Mr. Kessel was eight months older than the state.  He was born Oct. 10, 1862, in Jackson county and had been a lifelong resident of West Virginia.  He was a retired employee of True Temper Corp. and a member of the Free Salvation Baptist Church.  He resided at Tyler Mountain.  Surviving are his wife, Minnie, 84; five daughters, Mrs. Anita Krebs, Mrs. Letha Rucker, Mrs. Thelma Asbury, Mrs. Erna Short and Mrs. Grace Jackson of Charleston; four sons, Lloyd F. of St. Albans, Ernest H. of Marion, O., and Clinton R. and Paul L. Kessel of Charleston; a brother, Kenna Kessel of Dunbar.  Also four stepsons, Leonard, Elmer and Roger Casto of Tyler Heights, and Clifford Casto of Charleston; and four stepdaughters, Mrs. Dorthena Baker of New York, Mrs. Belle Young of Detroit, Mrs. Fay Zimmerman of South Charleston and Mrs. Gwendlyn Spencer of Tyler Heights.
