Information: ILLNESS IS FATAL TO ROMA BAYER - An attack of spinal meningitis proved fatal to Roma Eugene Bayer at his home in Newell, West Virginia last Saturday afternoon. The body was brought to Ripley Monday and taken to the Oak Hill cemetery where services were held under the direction of Rev. Fred Slaughter Monday afternoon and burial was in the cemetery there. Mr. Bayer, who was only 34 years of age, became ill last Friday evening after he had returned to his home after his day's work was done and died the following afternoon. The following obituary was read at the funeral: Roma Eugene Bayer, son of A. P. and Ruby Cleek Bayer was born at Ripley, West Virginia, June 23, 1901,departed this life May 16, 1936, at his home in Newell, aged 34 years, 10 months and 23 days. Roma was a member of the First Presbyterian church of East Liverpool, Ohio. His sickness was very short. God took him home after 12 hours of suffering. His mother, Ruby Cleek Bayer, preceded him in death six years ago, also a brother, Kay, who passed on to his Heavenly home. He leaves to mourn his untimely death, his wife, Irene Bayer, of East Liverpool; his father, A. P. Bayer of Ripley; five sisters, Mrs. Ernest Hutton of Parkersburg, Mrs. John Kane of Midland, Pa., Arnold of East Liverpool; Darrell and Francis, of Newell.
