  <p>Information: Darrell Kerns, 75, of Brimfield, Ohio, passed away January 12, 2012.  Funeral services were Monday, January 16, at Newcomer Funeral Home in Akron OH         Ravenswood Star News - Darrell Kerns, 75, of Brimfield OH, passed away January 12, 2012.  He was born in Ripley WV.  A proud Army veteran, Darrell served for 6 years.  He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in 1998 after 37 years of service.  He was also a Union Shop Steward.  Darrell devoted 20 years with the Brimfield VFD and spent 10 years coaching both little league baseball and girls softball.  He also raised money for the United Way, delivered food baskets for the needy and was a member of the Northwest Avenue Church of Christ in Tallmadge.  Darrell will be deeply missed by all who knew him.  He was preceded in death by his father, Hobart Kerns; one sister; and two brothers.  He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; children, Brenda (Kevin) Bableand, John D. ""JD"" Kerns; mother, Anita Evans; siblings, Keith (Patsy) , Debbie (Dave) Wilson, Jack (Sharon) Kerns, Debbie (Dave) Kerns, Dorma (Howard) Skinner, Linda (John) Jones, and Kathy (Cary) Owens; many special nieces and nephews, in-laws and friends.  Services were on Monday, January 16, at Newcomer Funeral Home in Akron OH.  Internment followed at the Restland Cemetery in Brim OH, with military and fire department honors.</p>
