Information: SERVICES HELD FRIDAY FOR RIPLEY COUNCILMAN - Funeral services were held Friday, June 16, 1989, at Grace Gospel Church for Ripley councilman Archie Kelly, 70, who suffered a fatal heart attack Tuesday night at the Ripley Municipal Building while watching the vote tallying for the city election. Paramedics and Dr. James Hughes, who was standing nearby when Kelly suffered the attack, were able to revive him but he died about an hour later at Jackson General Hospital.  Mr. Kelly was serving his seventh term as council.  He was not seeking re-election.  He was born in Tennessee and came to West Virginia at an early age.  He retired three years ago from the Ripley Post Office after 27 years in the Postal Service system.  He was a veteran of World War II, recipient of the Bronze Star.  He was a former member of the Lions Club and a member of Aplin Ridge Church.  Surviving:  wife, Delores Kelly; son, Stephen Sr. of Ripley; daughters, Linda Allen of Richmond, Va., Barbara Ann O'Conner of Staats Mill; brother, Burnice of Ripley; sisters, Eunice Rhodes of Ripley, Glady Harnor of Mount Pleasants, Mich., Florence Thomas of Kanawha City; four grandchildren. One brother, Waldo Kelly, preceded him in death.  The Rev. Jack Berry officiated the service.  Burial was in Fairplain Cemetery.  Parsons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
