Information: Jessie Lee Ferguson was born June 28, 1889, at the family home on their farm on Log Lick Run, one mile from the town of Cottageville, Jackson County. Her parents were James and Virginia Price Ferguson. She was the seventh child of their ten children. Her brothers and sisters were: Creed, Joseph, Dorma, James Jr., Rhoda, Clara, John, Bessie and Marshall. While growing up on the farm on Log Lick Run, she attended elementary scdhool in the community known as the ""Lone Pine School."" All the pupils were from neighboring farms. Later Jessie attended A.S.Lee Normal School in Ripley and taught school in Mason, Jackson and Clay counties. She married H. Lockney Keith on December 31, 1910, and spent the rest of her life in Clay County where she taught many terms of school. She also was deputy county clerk for Clay County for six years and was very active in both civic and church affairs. She was the U.S.Postmaster at Fola, WV from which she retired after twenty years of service. She had one daughter, Fola Eugenia. Jessie lived to be ninety-two years old. She passed away December 28, 1981.
