Information: DEATH CLAIMS AGED FARMER - Funeral services for John Alvin Battrell, 77 years old, were held Wednesday morning at the Foster Chapel church with Rev. J. W. Garrison conducting the services and burial was in the church cemetery. The Vail mortuary of Ripley had charge of the funeral plans. Mr. Battrell, who was one of the widely known farmers of that section of the county, had been ill for more than a year from what relatives said was complications due to his advanced age. He was a member of the Methodist church and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and was a native of Mason county but spent the major portion of his life in Jackson county and in the Foster Chapel community. He is survived by the widow and the following children: Carrie Sayre of Arbuckle, Edna Casto of Circleville, Ohio, Elva Casto of Rockcastle, Lucy Barr of Given, Mable Hill of Charleston and Sylvia Hill of Reed, West Virginia. Three sons, W. E., John D., and Pearl Battrell, preceded the father in death.
