Information: Gladys Louise Parsons Jordan, 19-year old wife of Charles H. ""Pete"" Jordan of Ripley and their 21-month old daughter, Angela Renee, were both killed August 25, 1959 in a crash on U.S. Route 21 at South Hills, just south of Ripley. Mother and daughter were both pinned in the front seat of their car which was struck head-on by a north bound freight truck. The baby apparently died instantly and Mrs. Jordan died enroute to Kessel Clinic in a Parsons ambulance. Mrs. Jordan was expecting their second child in September. She was born October 6, 1939, the youngest of five daughters born to Roscoe L. and Ethel F. Vannoy Parsons. Gladys was a graduate of Ripley High School with the Class of 1957. She was head majorette her senior year and was active in several school organizations. She was a member of the Ripley Jr. Women's Club and attended the E.U.B. Church. Their only child Angela Renee Jordan was born November 25, 1957. Mrs. Jordan is survived by her husband, her parents, and four sisters: Mrs. Mamie Skeen of Kenna, Mrs. Monnie Landis of Ripley, Mrs. Mildred Hunt of Columbus, Ohio and Mrs. Juanita Skeen of Parkersburg. Angela is survived by her paternal grandparents, George B. and Hattie H. Jordan of Ripley and paternal grandparents, Roscoe L. and Ethel F. Vannoy Parsons of Kenna. Funeral services for mother and daughter were held Friday afternoon in the E.U.B. Church with the Rev. Homer Hicks officiating. Many of her friends paid their respects by serving as flower bears and pallbearers. During the funeral most of the downtown business closed as a tribute to the Jordan Family. Interment was in Pine Hill Cemetery, Ripley. The Parsons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
