Information: FORMER STATE BANKING COMMISSIONER CLAIMED - Services for former state Banking Commissioner George B. Jordan, Jr., 58, of Ripley, were held Monday at Calvary United Methodist Church, Ripley.  The Rev. Roger Smith, the Rev. R. A. Atkinson and the Rev. William Eaton officiated.  Burial was in Pine Hill Cemetery with Masonic rites.  Born at Advent, Jackson County, son of Hattie Hamon Jordan of Ripley and the late George B. Jordan, Sr., he died Thursday about 11:30 p.m. in Veterans Administration Hospital, Huntington.  He was a Navy veteran of World War II and served as West Virginia Banking Commissioner under former Gov. Arch A. Moore, Jr.  ""George Jordan was a highly principled banking commissioner who presided over a period of great growth in the history of banks and banking in our state. He handled his responsibilities with firmness and during his tenure, West Virginia enjoyed its greatest growth in new banking identities in the state's modern history."" Moore said.  Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline Stinson Jordan; two sons, David L. of Culloden and G. William Jordan of Germantown, Md.; two daughters, Judy L. Malcomb of Katy, Texas and Donna K. Jordan of Kenova; four brothers, William O. of Charleston, John L. of Washington, W. Va., Charles H. of Ripley and J. Paul of San Francisco, Calif.; and two grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by a son, Douglas, in 1954.  Vail Funeral Home, Ripley, was in charge of arrangements.
