Information: HEART ATTACK FATAL TO RIPLEY EDUCATOR - MARSHALL JONES DIES AT HIS RIPLEY HOME - Marshall Wayne Jones, one of Jackson county's widely known educators, died suddenly of a heart attack at his home on Second Avenue in Ripley on Monday morning. He was 53 years old. He had been confined to his home for a few days taking treatment for arthritis. He was stricken suddenly with the heart attack and lived only a short time. Mr. Jones was a former Superintendent of Schools of Jackson county and on two different occasions had been an assistant superintendent. He was engaged in school work in Jackson county until nine years ago when he joined the faculty of Sissonville high school, and was still a member of that faculty at the time of his death. He was born January 15, 1911, and was a son of the late P. C. Jones, and Arstella Covey Jones of Ripley. He attended Jackson county schools and graduated from Morris Harvey College in 1943. He is survived by his wife, Adda Iman Jones; two sons, Attorney Elton Jones of Clarksburg and John Paul Jones of Harrisville; two brothers, Russell Jones of Sissonville and Attorney Dewey Jones of Charleston; a sister, Mrs. Brady Hickel of Ripley; his mother, Mrs. Arstella Jones, also of Ripley, and one grandchild. The funeral services will be held at the Parsons funeral home here at 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Paul Beal officiating and the burial will be in the Hill Garden of Memories at Sissonville. Members of the faculty of Sissonville high school will be pallbearers.
