  <p>Information: James E. Batten, 65, of Fairplain, died March 13, 1995, of a sudden illness at Jackson General Hospital, Ripley.  He was born in Allen&#39;s Run, Roane County, a son of the late Walter and Ada Epling Batten.  He was a contractor and a U.S. Army veteran.  He attended the Epling Chapel.         Surviving are his wife, Rose Etta Batten of Fairplain; five sons, James Lee Batten of Fairplain, Phillip Batten, Brett Batten, Bart Batten and Matthew Batten, all of Freeport, Ohio; two daughters, Linda Robinson of Freeport and Brenda Ripley of Fairplain; two brothers, Fred Batten of Fairplain and Edward Batten of Freeport; two sisters, Betty Heck of Fort Myers Beach, FL and Nancy Beck of Canal Fulton OH; and 10 grandchildren.  Services at 11 a.m. Wednesday (today) at Parsons Funeral Home, Ripley, the Rev. Orland Reynolds, officiating.  Services 1.p.m. Epling Chapel, Roane County.  Burial Epling Chapel Cemetery.</p>
