  <p>Information: BUCKHANNON - Lawrence Velmon Johnson, 91, of Buckhannon and formerly of Ripley, died Saturday, May 25, 2002, at the home of his daughter, Wanda Hoover.  He was born May 17, 1911, in Jackson County, a son of the late Robert and Alice Floretta Harmon Johnson.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice M. Johnson, who died March 28, 2000.  He is survived by one daughter, Wanda Hoover and her husband, Holly, of Buckhannon; three grandchildren, Gregory Hoover and his wife, Melody, of Frederick MD, Neal Hoover and his wife, Sarah, of Louisville KY, and Kimberly Sayre and her husband, Gene, of Newport News,VA; one great-grandson, Caleb Hoover of Frederick MD; and one great-granddaughter, Kara Hoover of Frederick MD.  He is also survived by one sister, Fanny Cox of Ripley.  He was preceded in death by one sister, Elma Merrill.  Funeral services were held at Vail Funeral Home, Ripley, on Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Arnold Conant officiating.  Burial followed in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Roane County. The Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.</p>
