Information:      Evelyn Marie Harpold Poling Johnson, 81, journeyed home early on the morning of March 3, 2013.  Born June 10, 1932, in Gay, she was the daughter of the late James Albert and Blanche Marie Fields Harpold, having two brothers and five sisters.  She was mother to five children, 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and was married to the late B. Noel Poling.  Later married to the late Ernest L. Johnson blessed her with three additional stepchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.  Evelyn's life was about family, community, giving and service.   In high school Evelyn was head cheerleader, a member of the band and glee club and was chosen Miss Viking twice.  Playing a major role in the family business, Poling Electric, during the '60s, she raised five childen, helped her husband, B. Noel Poling,, who was active in West Virginia state politics, and was involved with football boosters, band boosters and numerous community projects and affairs.  She was a member of the Eastern Star, Epworth United Methodist Church, a Cub Scout leader, a Brownie leader, a Rainbow advisor, involved with early midget football and Little League and was president of the Ripley High Alumni Association.  Her many friends and loved ones gave her courage when she developed colon cancer in 1974.  She became involved with local hospitals, the Cancer Society and socialwork, helping other ostomy patients cope with their adjustments.  She late career changed to help medical offices and patients deal with burdening health insurance complexities.  That time of her life became a joy to her of helping others.  Her mariage to ""Lew"" Johnson marked a new phase of both their lives.  She was a member of Ravenswood First Baptist Church, the Pilot Club and they continued their involvement in various community activities.  Weekly rook partners were Charles Poling, Colleen Murray, whom they both enjoyed immensely.  Families grew, grandchildren married and great-grandchildren entered her wold.  Her joy of travel, entertaining and giving of herself to family and friends was her life.  It made her ""Eve.""    Surviving Evelyn are her children, Shirl/Carl Baggett of Atlanta, Ga., Mike Poling of Cleveland, Ohio, Jennifer/Jim Natalina of Ripley, Steve/Shirley Poling of Ripley, and Randy/Lissa Poling of Crystal River, Fla.; grandchildren include Brian/Kelly Bethea and Joe/Sabrina Bethea of Atlanta, Ga., Lindsey/Larry Baer of Chicago, Ill.; Matt/Alicia Pling of Pittsburgh, Pa.; Andres Poling of Erie, Pa., Adam/Gretta Hill of Ripley, Ben/Amber Poling of Goldtown, Adam/Kayla Poling of Evans, Sida/Andrew Hyde of  Safety Harbor, Fla., Erica Poling of Largo, Fla., and Bobby Poling of Crystal Rver, Fla.; and great-grandchildren include Wes and Will Hill, Haley Bethea, Ellie Poling, Annabelle Poling and Willa and Weston Hyde.  Evelyn's surviving brothers are Jackie and James Harpold.  Surviving sisters are Virginia Burdette, Betty Jo/Dick Dopart, Janet/Chuck Frum, Jean/Gene Waybright and Molly/Tom Perry.  Surviving stepchildren through marriage include Stan Johnson, Zella Johnson and Terry Johnson.  Memorial service will be held at Waybright Funeral Home in Ripley on Saturday, March 23.  Friends are welcome for family visitation beginning at 1 p.m. with service commencing at 2 p.m.  Donations to the American Cancer Society, in lieu of flowers, are requested.  Memories and condolences amy be shared by visiting www.waybrightfunderalhome.com.
